Heads in the Sky – s/t

This little-known Canadian group from the Toronto area released two albums in the early ‘80s. This, their self-titled album is actually their second, sequentially. Eight songs in all, several with tongue-in-cheek titles, such as Three Isle My Land and Atomic Energy Sweet.

Typical of many North American prog acts, Heads in the Sky relies less on dreamy soundscapes or the spacey melodic passages used by the European brethren, though this in no way diminishes the compositions’ emotive qualities. In particular, the two specific tracks mentioned above showcase the tightness of the musicians – Gerry Fielding on drums, Ken Miskov on bass, Larry Stanley piano and Russ Walker with everything else (keys, guitars, flute and vocals)

A part of the forgotten Illuminated Records catalog, the two HitS albums exist only on LP. This version has been custom-transferred to CD.
